Age Friendly Athens County

Mission Statement:

Age-Friendly Athens County will create an environment that allows our citizens to age gracefully, actively, and comfortably in a sustainable, supportive, and inclusive community.

Athens County achieved certification in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities following the successful completion of its Action Plan. The Age-Friendly Athens County Action Plan incorporates input gathered through surveys and community engagement activities. The plan focuses on key areas such as housing, transportation, health services, and other resources that support aging in place.
